BKG Bunse GmbH is proud to highlight its entry in the latest issue of Elevator World, where the CASA Boutique Hotel in Nahariya, the northernmost coastal city in Israel, was recognised as "Project of the year 2024".
Here is the official version from Elevator World:
The 12-storey CASA Boutique Hotel is located in Nahariya, the northernmost coastal city in Israel, and has a bar and restaurant for guests on the top floor. Health regulations in Israel require that no food or restaurant deliveries are made up stairs or in a passenger lift. A solution had to be found so that the bar and restaurant could obtain their licence and open for business.
The owner of the CASA Hotel signed a contract with Eshel Lifts Ltd for the supply and installation of a 300kg service lift. The lift, manufactured by German-based BKG Bunse-Aufzüge GmbH, was installed outside the building and fixed to the external wall. The service lift extends from the lower level of the hotel to the bar level with a total height of 33.65 metres, making it the longest service lift ever installed outdoors in Israel.
Due to the location of the lift and the bad weather, including cold temperatures, rain and strong winds, the installation was time-consuming and dangerous. Safety harnesses were used throughout the process. In addition, special scaffolding was erected around the lift site for safety reasons.
The CASA hotel lift serves two stops at a speed of 0.6 metres per second. It is controlled by a Siemens PLC (programmable logic controller) and a KEB-VVVF inverter (variable-voltage-variable-frequency). The shaft was covered with insulated metal and PVC panels and special care was taken to prevent water from entering the shaft. Once completed, the service lift has served the hotel faithfully for almost two years and represents a pioneering innovation in the industry.
